Pultec’s passive EQs—introduced over 50 years ago—became mainstays for mastering, as well as for vocals, bass, guitar, and more. With their gentle tone-shaping talents, the EQP-1A (highs and lows) and MEQ-5 (midrange) set a standard for passive EQs that remains unchallenged to this day.
Waves modeled these beautifully maintained, hand-crafted legends from the personal collection of Grammy-winning producer/mixer Jack Joseph Puig (John Mayer, Lady Gaga, Rolling Stones). Now they can help you shape your sound.
True to the Original
The original Pultec EQs have a well-earned reputation for sonic purity. Acclaimed producer/engineer Jack Joseph Puig has two of the finest examples of these rare, hand-built EQs in his studio. We modeled the units under his guidance for fidelity to the analog originals.

Lows without mud, highs without harshness: Mix fat, punchy bass, drums, and synths with the EQP-1A’s three high-cut frequencies, along with separate boost and attenuation controls for 4 low frequencies and 7 high frequencies (with bandwidth parameter).

The Pultec EQP-1A is renowned for its unique ability to boost and cut the same frequencies simultaneously, creating a unique resonant shelf. Thousands of classic recordings have used this feature to great effect, to enhance the low end.
Mix Rich Vocals, Guitars, Keys and more with the MEQ-5
Create, rich smooth midrange tones for voice, acoustic guitar, piano, and more with low-mid boost at 5 selectable frequencies, mid dip at 11 frequencies, and high-mid boost at 5 frequencies.
