(1987) Snap! is Michael Daugherty's jazzy tribute to the golden age of Hollywood and the panache of tap-dancer James Cagney's memorable performances. Framed by two dueling crash cymbal soloists, a syncopated opening motive goes through various rhythmic permutations and melodic elaborations in this highly original and entertaining composition.
