The PUCCINI REDISCOVERED series, performing editions edited and annotated by Michael Kaye, are based on the most authentic sources, many of which have not been considered in other editions on this wide range of music spanning the composer's entire career. Volume 1 of 2 of STRING QUARTETS includes the following: QUARTET IN D, S. 50; ADAGIO, S. 31; SCHERZO, S. 34; TRIO IN F, S. 52; SCHERZO PER ARCHI, S. 56. It is also possible that each of these shorter string quartets is actually individual movements of a larger lost QUARTET IN D.
