With its toe-tapping accompaniment and its body percussion bridge, this Johnson Boys setting recalls the musical humor characteristic of many American mountain songs. Students will enjoy the text and rhythmic vitality of each vocal line. The countermelodies have tessituras, texts, and contours that contrast with the melody, thereby making this an excellent early part-singing piece.
