Jazz in the Classroom - Practical Sessions in Jazz and Improvisation

Pupil's Book Jazz in the Classroom provides opportunities for students to create improvised music by using a combination of jazz techniques and modern classroom practice. The ten sessions are developmental, starting with rhythm work, echo clapping, "question and answer" work, contrasting "rock" and "swing" feels. This leads on to melodic improvisation over ostinati, moving from small note groups to pentatonic scales, modes and finally major scales. Ideal for students between the ages of 10 and 14.
