Each of the 10 solos in this collection focus on specific performance issues including lefthand/bass drum coordination, playing tom-toms, foot coordination, clave and cross-stick technique, melodic playing, and more. A notation legend is provided and a brief introduction explains the goal of solo performance -- to convey a musical idea and sense of direction rather than playing with blazing speed and flashy technique.
