Andante and Allegro - Alto Saxophone and Piano

Andre Chailleux (1904-1984), a composer and organist who graduated from the Paris Conservatoire, composed Andante et Allegro for alto saxophone and piano in 1958. It is a work of medium difficulty, with all the ingredients needed for students to progress - a good sense of phrasing; fingering dexterity; different modes of articulation and expression; contrasting sonorities; simple and compound time signatures, etc. - which has established itself comfortably in the pedagogical literature of saxophonists over generations.
